Zoo

I'm so behind about posting.  I really want to keep a better record of what we do everyday so I can look back on my kids when they were young.  Gonna try a little harder :) Coming soon- Taryn's 4 month post (which has turned into 4 1/2 month post)

We went to the Zoo a week ago.  I have been wanting to try a trip up to the city for a while.  It usually takes around 40 minutes to 1 hour.  I was a bit nervous thinking I'd have to stop for Taryn.  Though, of course, she slept the whole way.  Luke and I sang to his 'Luke' cd that Grandma and Grandpa bought him last winter.  I'm driving my husbands car right now, we switched so he could get my brakes fixed and we haven't switched back.  His car's cd player works because a toddler didn't shove coins in his, haha.
Anyway the trip up went well.  We got there and renewed our membership.  I brought our stroller just in case.  It was a good decision because sometimes I have to put Taryn down while I help Luke potty, nurse, etc.  And Taryn actually likes riding in it, so she took a few joy rides in it while we walked all around.  Luke walked most of the way until the end when I got the pleasure of carrying two kids back up the hill to the car while pushing a stroller, good times.

Overall, trip was successful!  I really wanted to try to go by myself, with out having the pressure of meeting someone.  It was a good way to start, and I'm happy it worked out.  I am so much less stressed about car rides now, because I just feel like I have more confidence and know what to do now that it's the second baby.

Here are some lovely pics of the Zoo!

I saw this giraffe pee for literally 3 minutes.  I kept looking back, and he was still peeing!

Change of Plans... all day

Last night I had every thing ready for today.

My plan for this morning was to... get up at 8am.   Make it to  my chiropractic appointment at 1030, which was an hour away.  And then drop the dog off before for her grooming appointment before our hour drive.

I had it all planned. My husband even made us some bacon the night before for morning.  I got the bags packed, the snacks packed, everything.  In the morning, I even had to wake Luke up early.  He usually sleeps in until 9.    Luke was even a good sport about me waking him up earlier than usual.  Then it happened... after I was all ready, even on time....

My husband forgot to take my car keys out of his pocket and leave them for me.  Because he was so generous in cleaning my car last night, he must have forgotten.

And he couldn't just run them home.  He was in meetings all morning.  So I had to cancel the chiropractic appointment.  Fortunately he was able to bring the keys in time for me to be able to take the dog in.  She really needed it.

But then, I got an email from the chiropractor and she had an appointment open up in the afternoon, after nap time even.  My husband was able to get the dog after she was done.  Luke and I got to drive up there, I had my appointment.  Luke was great at my appointment, really not minding playing with toys while I was being worked on.
Then we got to go to a baby store where I got some more prefold diapers, nursing pads, and some baby leggings that were locally made (yes, they even have some pink on them).  We got home just when my husband got home from work.  Then we had a fantastic dinner of roasted chicken and asparagus.

It actually turned out to be a really great day.  But I'm really tired, time for bed!

Shopping and Ash Wednesday

We did almost nothing today.  But I decided to take a trip to Target to look around and to have Luke burn some energy.  We looked around at clothes for Luke because I saw some shirts on sale, then to toys to play, then back to clothes.  Luke was bored or just needed to get out because was waving clothes around by hangers, hiding under the clothes racks and knocking a lot of stuff on the floor.  In a way it was funny but in a way it was madning because I had to pick it all up.

We were on our last stop at the kids clothes section while I was looking at baby girl stuff and Luke said 'poop'.  Oh man.  I asked him if he could hold it until we bought what we had and could go to the bathroom.  He didn't really say anything.  So we checked out and I went into the family bathroom.  He had already pooped a little in his underwear... but it was solid enough (tmi?) to just dump out and change with out too much hassle.  Thank goodness!!  I honestly have kind of forgotten what to do when that happens and we aren't at home.  So I put new underwear on him and new pants.  Then I had figured, pregnant lady should go before we go home, just in case.  I started peeing and some kid opened the door to our bathroom!  I quickly got up and pushed it shut.  He pushed back.  LOL.  Finally I got it shut and locked.  Whew.  How embarrassing.  Not only was I with my pants down and pregnant, it freaked Luke out a little that some one was barging in.

We made it home... and I was just tired.  Luckily Ben came home right around then so he helped out.  We ate dinner quickly and then went to Ash Wednesday Mass.  Our church had 3 times- 830am (too early and Ben was at work), 6pm (we'd have to rush to get there after Ben got home) and 730.  So 730 it was....  Turns out that was the Spanish time.  So we had our whole Ash Wednesday in Spanish.  At first I was bummed because I really want to start off this Lenten season well.  I'm really trying to end my spiritual drought.  But after a while of being there I enjoyed it just as I would English mass.  And there were way more kids Luke's age there and that was fun.  And Luke got ashes and he kept pointing at us and all the other people saying 'Ashes too'.

And, I'm giving up facebook for Lent.  I love doing it because I get out of the habit of getting on there, checking in on people and the distraction of thinking of status messages and waiting for comments.  It gets too obsessive after awhile.  I feel more free with out it.
As a family we aren't going out to eat during Lent.  I'm not sure what we'll do with the money we usually spend, or if we'll just add it to groceries.  But we do it too often and we should get out of the habit of not making food at home, its healthier and less expensive.
I just want to have more quality praying during Lent.  Lately, it's been really hard.  So I'm hoping for the best.  Happy Lent to everyone.
